I’m Chizzy — a creative and business writer, brand developer, and project manager who lives for smart storytelling. My work sits at the intersection of strategy and narrative: I help ideas find a clear voice, shape projects so they actually ship, and write copy and longer-form pieces that connect with real people. Professionally, I move between the practical (project timelines, brand frameworks, client-facing briefs) and the imaginative (voice development, narrative arcs, concepting), and I enjoy the stretch where those two worlds meet.
Professional Background & Evolution
Although I trained in Petroleum Engineering at university, I chose to follow writing and creative-project work as my primary path after graduating. My background is rooted in hands-on creative work and disciplined project delivery. I’ve helped teams and brands clarify their message, tighten processes, and present with confidence — whether that meant building a brand voice, structuring a proposal, or polishing business writing until it carried authority and warmth.
Some of the early blogs and platforms I wrote for or founded (Tukobos, InspireCrib, ToryHub, Birds & Bridges, and Akukom) are now defunct, but they were useful practice grounds and community experiments, and I keep their lessons with me. I also used to write on Wattpad in my younger years; perhaps I outgrew the platform, or perhaps I will return. Dunno yet.
Literary Roots & Community Building
Early on, I participated in the wider African writing ecosystem, including being longlisted for the 2016 Farafina Trust creative writing workshop. During university, I founded Route Africa in 2016, a student writers’ collective and incubator that grew into a multi-campus initiative — a project born from the simple idea that young writers need fewer gatekeepers and more places to practice and publish.
I have engaged with organizations promoting African literatures, such as Afrikult (linked to SOAS University of London), and partnered with grassroots projects to run workshops, including an efficient-reading workshop in Owerri with the Reading Revolutions in Africa Project. Along the way, I’ve collaborated with established writers like Sally Slater, Irenosen Okojie, and Pearl Osibu who contributed their time and pen to support efforts to build platforms for emerging voices.
I’ve been fortunate to receive recognition for this work, including a nomination for the 2017 Literary Excellence Awards from Africa Youth Awards. In 2018, I put a novella and short-story collection into the world as a self-published Kindle edition (Minna, Saturday: A Short Saga in Six Stories), which is available on Amazon.
Life Outside Work
Outside of work, I’m obsessed with story and sound. I am a devoted reader of fiction (especially books that build immersive worlds like the Legacy of Orïsha, Middle Earth, and Dune series) and a Ravenclaw Potterhead. I love movies and thoughtful, strange TV — everything from Middle-Earth epics, Wheel of Time, and Dune, to Severance, The OA, 1899, Yellowjackets, and the MCU multiverse.
I’m drawn to piercing music; instruments and rhythm hooking me before lyrics. I sing (mostly privately), I dance when no one’s watching.
I’m slowly learning French. Plan to get to Arabic, Mandarin, Russian and Swahili. I speak English, Nigerian Pidgin English and Igbo fluently. Languages open new ways of thinking; that's why I aim to be a polyglot so much.
I’ve supported Arsenal Football Club since 2003 (football fan for life).
I love Nigerian traditional dishes, though I’ve lately been experimenting with alternative cuisine to keep things interesting in the kitchen.
Above all, I’m fascinated by human behavior and the “why” behind decisions, beliefs, and stories — which feeds both my fiction and my brand work — and I carry an abiding curiosity for theoretical physics and big-picture questions about existence.
Dreams & Next Moves
As a writer at heart, I spend a lot of time drafting longer fiction and refining voice, pacing, and psychological nuance. I’m currently working toward publishing a psychological thriller that explores moral ambiguity and human motives. I’d love to collaborate on film or adaptation projects that blend rigorous world-building with strong character psychology.
